Main Task: Introduction

Hi, my name is Charlotte Ward and i am a AS media student studying at Christ The King. I have been given the main task of producing a music magazine front cover, contents and double page spread for a genre of my own choice. I have chosen the genre of Drum&Bass, this is because i am a big lover of the music and the beats behind the songs and therefore makes it a relevent genre for me to portray. However having this genre may shorten my audience, which is why i will be researching various different genres of magazines and looking at their different conventions to incorperate them in my own designs. This will help me to broaden my audience and have a larger target audience. I think the main audience for my magazine will be around 16-25 year olds. The younger generation tend to have a better understanding of the Drum&Bass genre. My planning and my research will include convention diagrams, textual analysis, audience research and various preliminary tasks all leading up to my final magazine pieces. I will then also create a profile of my audience to show what sort of people i am aiming to get reading my magazine, followed by a mood board of different pictures relating to my genre to help me to get ideas for my final idea.
